History of Vision Source Albany-Blakely-Camilla
Blakely Eye Care was established in
1946 by Dr. A Earl Taylor after he completed his training at the Northern Illinois College of Optometry. His daughter, Dr. Sue Prchal, and son -in-law, Dr. Taylor Prchal, joined the practice when they completed their training at the Southern College of Optometry in 1979. Now renamed Vision Source Blakely, Dr. Taylor Prchal now practices part time in Blakely making Vision Source Blakely one of the oldest family run eye care practices in Georgia. Dr. Taylor Prchal provides a complete range of eye care services with emphasis on medical eye conditions such as diabetic complications, cataracts and glaucoma.
Albany Eye Care was established in 1983 by Drs Sue and Taylor Prchal in the newly completed Cross Station Plaza. By 1988 the practice had out grown that location so the current facility was built and completed in September that year. In 1991 Dr. Kaye Collier Bryan joined the practice and furthered the growth of services the office could provide. In 2009 Dr. W. Matt Harper began seeing patients on a part time basis and is now seeing patients on a full time basis. The practice was renovated in the fall of 2011, which included the incorporation of the Vision Source brand as the lead in its naming. Additional examination technologies were added during the renovation including the “dilation free” Optomap imaging system and electronic medical records.
The practice has now gone full circle with the inclusion of Dr. Joseph Taylor Prchal in June 2012. In 2014, the practice expanded again with the opening of Camilla Eye Care. The grandson of Dr. A. Earl Taylor, the founder of the Blakely office, Dr. Taylor Prchal is continuing the family commitment to the visual needs of Southwest Georgia that spans over 70 years.
In the summer of June 2017, Dr.Kelly Cleary joined Vision Source and started seeing patients in Albany and Camilla.Dr. Cleary is very excited to provide eye care to the wonderful residents of Southwest Georgia.
